CASSIDY Kitchen Faucet

When cleaning up around the kitchen, have you ever stopped to wonder exactly how your Delta faucet works? Surprisingly, it’s not magic. When you turn on your faucet, quite a few things happen to start the flow of water — and we’ve broken it down for you.

  1. Water enters the faucet through the supply lines that connect to the supply pipes
  2. The valve can be toggled to release hot or cold water, or a mix of the two from the cartridge.
  3. When the faucet is turned on, water passes through the cartridge and comes out of the spout.

When turning on your faucet, you use its valve to release water and set the temperature.

How Faucets Work

Understanding Valves

The valve lives inside the cartridge housing. It operates via moving the faucet handle from side to side. This motion allows for varying amounts of hot and cold water to flow through the diamond-embedded disc. They enter and combine inside the ceramic dic and then flow out of the faucet.

Understanding Discs

The discs slide back and forth on top of each other, allowing water to move through one hole or the other. Hot or cold water will flow out of the faucet depending on the position of the discs.

Voila…water! Your Delta faucet is more than just a pretty accent in your kitchen. But once you break it all down, the inner workings of a faucet don’t seem so complicated.
